Job Description
Hayden Catholic High School, Topeka, KS, has an opening for president beginning in the 2018-19 school year. Hayden currently has an enrollment of 422 and employs 31 teachers in grades 9 through 12. The school is sponsored by 6 parishes in Topeka, Kansas and is governed by a board of trustees. The President reports to the Board of Trustees.
Applicants for President must be practicing Catholics and understand the mission of Catholic education. The President is the Chief Administrator of the School and is responsible for all school operations, and in particular, student recruitment, donor engagement, facilities maintenance, strategic planning and overall school advancement. Applicants should possess proven success in leadership, preferably, but not required, in a Catholic high school.
Hayden is particularly looking for an energetic, positive person who enjoys actively engaging with staff/students and stakeholders (present and potential). This person would a good listener and superb communicator who values new and innovative ideas. In addition, this person must demonstrate the capacity to lead the school in a manner that continues the positive momentum it currently enjoys.
The President must be able to demonstrate prudent financial management, as well as successful fundraising. In addition, the President must be prepared to supervise and lead the school’s overall formation, academic, and co-curricular direction. The new President needs to understand the challenges facing Catholic high schools today and the best practices for dealing with those challenges in a setting that is committed to excellence. The successful candidate will find ways to leverage the school’s history, tradition and other positive attributes to make the school a model for Catholic education in the 21st Century.
